USS Curtiss Deck-Log Luminous Object Incident
April 7, 1954Bikini–Enewetak operating area, Marshall Islands, Marshall Islands
Hastings reproduces a USS Curtiss deck-log entry recording an unidentified yellowish-orange luminous object passing from bow to stern at low altitude and high speed during Operation Castle. Later shipboard testimony adds an alleged zigzag departure, but that feature is not contained in the reproduced log entry.
Claims are displayed with the source wording, locator, relationship and verification state. Competing claims remain separate rather than being averaged into a single answer.
“Hastings reproduces the April 7, 1954 USS Curtiss deck-log entry recording an unidentified yellowish-orange luminous object passing over the ship from bow to stern at low altitude and high speed at 23:05.”
“Joe Stallings later told Hastings that sailors and marines who said they witnessed the 1954 Curtiss object described it as oval, bright orange and silent, and also reported zigzag maneuvers after it passed astern. The reproduced deck-log entry does not include the zigzag detail.”
