Malmstrom Weapons Storage Area Unknown-Intruder Report
Fall 1975, before Joseph Chassey separated from the Air Force in OctoberMalmstrom AFB Weapons Storage Area, Montana, United States
Joseph Chassey recalled directly hearing an urgent Security Police radio call concerning an unknown intruder over Malmstrom’s nuclear Weapons Storage Area. The next day he heard that helicopters had pursued a brilliant object toward Belt. Former helicopter-unit commander Robert Peisher later acknowledged hearing about such a pursuit, but Hastings identifies chronology problems in their accounts.

SUPPORTS
CLAIM-530022unverified
“Chassey said the next day he heard that Malmstrom helicopters chased an extremely bright object toward Belt and that it outran them before returning. Peisher later said the account “sounds right” but stated he learned of it only much later.”
“Hastings notes a chronology problem: Chassey’s service records place the incident before his October 1975 separation, while Peisher said he remained helicopter-unit commander until near the end of November yet claimed not to hear of the pursuit until after leaving command.”
