Kirtland Egg-Shaped Object Near Nuclear Areas
November 4, 1957Sandia Base / Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, New Mexico, New Mexico, United States
Hastings describes a declassified Project Blue Book file in which an egg-shaped object was initially tracked on radar, descended to roughly 20–30 feet above the ground, moved toward the nuclear Weapons Storage Area and related facilities, hovered, then departed rapidly. Blue Book’s private-aircraft explanation was later rejected by the two air-traffic controllers interviewed by James McDonald.
Claims are displayed with the source wording, locator, relationship and verification state. Competing claims remain separate rather than being averaged into a single answer.
“Hastings describes a Project Blue Book case in which an egg-shaped object was initially tracked on radar, descended to an estimated 20–30 feet above the ground, moved toward Kirtland’s nuclear Weapons Storage Area and nearby atomic-test-group facilities, hovered and later departed rapidly.”
“The Blue Book explanation described by Hastings was an off-course private aircraft. Hastings cites James McDonald’s later interviews with controllers R. M. Kaser and E. G. Brink, who reportedly considered that explanation incompatible with what they observed.”
